The following is from the article that was provided where the Toms River School board unveils the budget.
"Although the district has kept taxes down for six years without any increase in funding, Ritacco said on Tuesday that the state formula is based on the current property values in the district, the level of income in the district and the numbers of students. There has been a 159-percent rise in property values in the district along with a 5.1 percent rise in residents' income levels."
In other words this tax increase has not taken effect YET, as it is based on the OLD value of your property which had a rise in property values of 159%.
Remember that when you go out to vote Tuesday.
