Well, boys and girls, today we are letting the fox guard the henhouse. Tomorrow, the wolves will be herding the sheep! Obama Appoints two devout Muslims to homeland security posts. Doesn't this make you feel safer already?

Obama and Janet Napolitano Appoint Arif Alikhan, a devout Muslim, as Assistant Secretary for Policy Development. Source for announcement: Homeland Security Press Room. http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2009/06/obama-appointment-arif-ali-khan-asst-secretary-dhs.html The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is proud to announce that the DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano swore-in Kareem Shora, a devout Muslim, who was born in Damascus, Syria as ADC National Executive Director as a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC). http://www.adc.org/
NOTE: Has anyone ever heard a new government official being identified as a devout Catholic, a devout Jew or a devout Protestant...? Just wondering. Devout Muslims being appointed to critical Homeland Security positions? Doesn't this make you feel safer already?? That should make our homeland much safer, huh!! Was it not "Devout Muslim men" that flew planes into U.S. buildings 8 years ago? Still think this President is thinking of the welfare of this country? This announcement was made on Aug 20. Why are we just now hearing about it???

Re: the caller whose family member experienced a pregnancy loss in a shore area hospital. As a maternity nurse, I can verify that what the family experienced sounds like accepted protocol. The newly delivered stillborn child is carefully washed and dressed by the staff, and the nurse is responsible for approaching the family to find out to what extent they want contact with their little one. Some families decline to see or hold the baby, but the care of the baby is done routinely and the questions are always asked. As for photographs, the usual procedure is for the staff to take photos of the infant and keep them on file. Parents who decline the photos in the immediate postpartum period have been known to reconsider and call back asking for the photos. Some families do desire a photo of themselves holding the baby, and the nurse would offer to take such photos as well.
Recently we have seen the availability of professional photographers who will come to the hospital to memorialize the baby in high-quality photography, but most often it is the staff nurse who will provide these comforting gestures if they are desired by the grieving family.
Far from being desensitized or routinized to this kind of loss, the staff nurse transcends her own feelings, (and sometimes revisits her own personal pregnancy losses) each time she cares for a grieving family on maternity. What helps a family to achieve closure and memorialize their child is unique to each family, and staff nurses will offer to help with those aspects of the hospital experience.

To see You-Tube of Pelosi GOOGLE "YouTube - Does Speaker Nancy Pelosi Dodge Health Care Question?"
or go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUkzV8h3Wp0

This is the written dialogue of it: (Keep in mind you can WATCH the video if you Google the above)

Seattle reporter: "Do you think it's fair to send people to jail for not buying health insurance?" From the November 9 press conference:

SHOMARI STONE, KOMO 4 NEWS: Madame Speaker, I'm Shomari Stone from KOMO 4 news. I have a question for you that hasn't been pointed out but a lot of Americans feel this way. Do you think it's fair to send people to jail for not buying health insurance?

PELOSI: Well the point is -- is that we want make sure that everyone has access to health care. For a long time now people who haven't had health care or provided it have placed the burden on others. Everybody is paying the price for uncompensated care-I don't need to tell you that-in a hospital. And so this is -- is to say that we all have to do our part and that is the point of the bill.

STONE: But Madame Speaker, I'm just trying to understand, if you don't buy health insurance, you go to jail? You didn't answer my question.

PELOSI: Well, the point, there is -- I think the legislation is very fair in this respect. It gives people an opportunity to have health care, access to quality health care. If they can't afford it, it provides subsidies for them to do so. But do you think it's fair if somebody says, I'm just not going to have any, if I get sick, then I'll just go to the emergency room and send the bill to you. That's my view on the subject.

-------------------------------------
Pelosi thinks it's fair to pass the insurance bill onto the taxpayers, not just the medical bills from an emergency visit.
