We're watching the Gulf oil spill along with state environmental operatives and shore tourism leaders. If it moves up the coast, it could have serious consequences for the state economy and ecology beyond those that already exist.
All of Governor Christie's budget constraint recommendations looked great back in January. Can you believe the PR spin that "shared sacrifice" is getting? A TV ad I saw implies that if your town has rampant crime, houses burning down and 100 kids to a classroom, it's the Governor's fault. What next, he was the second shooter on the grassy knoll?
Interesting events take place every day this coming week:
Monday, former Eagle and current Congressional hopeful Jon Runyon fields questions from the WOBM News team and listeners for a full hour at 2 on WOBM-AM. Dan Alexander and Tom Trembly will once again set up a live video and audio web stream.
Tuesday in Toms River, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission presents its annual safety assessment of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Power Plant. It'll be at the Holiday Inn.
Earlier that same day in Eatontown, Assemblywoman Mary Pat Angelini conducts a forum about children's protection at the borough Municipal Building. Stands to reason that Prevention First, the organization she pilots, is involved as well.
Wednesday in Seaside Heights, the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau teams with RADD for a campaign called "Get Real." It combines tourism with traffic-oriented social responsibility...in other words, drive on down to the shore, but don't text while you're doing it. And go ahead and drink, but give someone else the car keys.
Thursday in Sandy Hook, it's the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium's eighth annual State Of The Shore, announcing the winners of the NJ Top Ten Beaches survey. It's in the Seagull's Nest Beach Bar, Parking Area D.
Friday in Toms River, Ocean County's Older Adults in Traffic Safety mark their 20th year of voluntarism in finding solutions for safer highways. It's actually more productive than bingo, and still gets them over to the Holiday City Diner in time for the early-bird specials.

"Falklandisation"
Is a form of Falklands nationalism, made up of the many facets of our community activities, identity and culture. Indeed our very own Constitution provides for "Falklandisation" to evolve.

If WOBM is going to allow the term "tea bagger" to be said on the air at Topic A and even from Bob Levy the host of Topic A, then there should be no problem with me posting the definition of tea bagging on Bob's Blog. "Tea bagging is when a male lowers his scrotum onto the head, face or inside the mouth of a sexual partner." I think Bob owes all the Tea Partiers in Ocean County (and everywhere)an apology for referring to the Tea Partiers to the sexually offensive slur "tea baggers".
Carol,
If you recall, it was some time ago that a caller first used that expression, and Bob didn't know what he was talking about untill I looked it up in the Urban dictionary.
Its the Tea Partiers that gave themselves the name "Teabaggers".
As a matter of fact, the term was used as far back as April 2009 by much larger medias: (http://crooksandliars.com/jon-perr/tea-baggers-strange_brew). Maybe they have your apology?
Oh, come on, Paul, I listened to PART of Bob's show, yesterday. I cringed EVERYTIME he said the word, "tea bagger." I don't care WHAT the Tea Partiers call themselves, the word has a vulgar connotation to it!!! Use of the word makes Bob look like a fool, on the air. Even a demure houewife like Carol, from Forked River, knows WHAT "tea bagging" is.
Another thing, WHAT was the cause of Bob's excessive angst, yesterday? ANGER, personified!!!
What, he had a "boo boo?" He didn't get enough sleep the night before? WOBM has been covering for Bob's "lapses" (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality) for thirty years, now. If he can't keep his emotions under control (it's called professionalism), SACK HIM, and replace him with a proven pro, Kevin Williams. Bob's always crowing about Key West, Florida. He should be enjoying his "Golden Years," there!
Paul, I have an idea. Yeah, I know, THAT'S a scary thing! These regular callers that you have (Jack, from Jackson, Herb, from Toms River, Phil, from Brick and Jack, from Point Pleasant Beach). They call up at the same time (8:00 o'clock hour), every week, month, year, decade and centennial. Like clock work! They've turned "Topic 'A'" into a show-within-a-show. How 'bout, from now on, they each provide a sponsor? That way, Bob can introduce 'em, thusly, "this portion of "Topic 'A'" is being brought to you by Ace Hardware. Then you play a little fifteen or thirty second "spot," and then Bob introduces Phil. Phil does his little five or ten minute dissertation, then it's Herb's turn. Same thing, with a different sponsor. Then, Jack. Chris, from the desert, too. INCREASED REVENUE!!! Bob can split the advertising fee with the caller, or keep it all to himself. What do you think? Oh, I want a cut. A "Finder's Fee," if you will!!!
So Bob is given a pass; so that makes it okay? A slur is a slur regardless or its origin. So WOBM, the "Hometown" station condones this type of derogatory sexual slur coming from the host of WOBM's Topic A? Paul, your response is inadequate. Bob still owes the Tea Partiers an apology.

Paul, even if you were right that the Tea Party gave themselves the teabagger name (which you're not).
If you replay Sunday's show Bob again and again says he doesn't know what teabagger means.
You yourself said Bob didn't know what he was talking about until you looked it up in the Urban dictionary.
Don't stoop down to Bob's level, you're better than that.
YOUR TAX MONEY AT WORK!!!
A VIRTUAL MONEY PIT!!!

Hhmmmmmmmm???
Something DOESN'T look right about that website address in my last post. I need Bob Levy to explain the Internet to me!!
"Two More Census Workers Blow The Whistle." By John Crudele.
Wednesday, May 26th New York Post
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/business/Two_more_census_workers_blow_the_OqY8ON3DBTvL17VmxKKR0O
Better luck THIS time!!
Ah, Shucks, I tried!!!
Just type the title of the article, "Two More Census Workers Blow The Whistle," and the name of the writer, John Crudele, into Google. It comes right up on the screen. Enlightening article!!!
President Obama moved the Census Bureau from OUT of the Commerce Department, INTO the hands of White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel. Is it safe to assume that ACORN is really doing the counting? Oh, yes, as of this date, I have NOT been counted, yet!! Perhaps it's because I voted for McCain. Sarah Palin in 2012!!!
Since the name that has been nationaly given to the "Tea Party"
participants, seems to offend some of Topic A's loyal listeners, lets come up with a better terminology that would be less offencive and better suited to the cause, like: "Tea Patriots", or "American Rally" for example. And then we can put all the terms up for a vote by the listeners, and I will see to it personally that the term will be used exclusively on Topic A as the referance for the "Tea Party" participants. Heck, I will even buy the winner a cup of coffee.
Paul said, "I will even buy the winner a cup of coffee."
REALLY, Starbucks???
Paul, the winner will probably be either Phil, Herb or Jack, and the winning name will most likely be "nutjob," "crazed person," "Loonytune" or "Palin Puppet."
Like Carol says (buy HER the cup of coffee!), what's wrong with just Tea Partier? THAT'S what they ARE!!
FOX News (yeah, the Satan News Channel according to Left-Wing, Liberal, Communist "Topic 'A'" listeners and callers) just reported that President Barack Hussein Obama conducted his first new conference in 308 days, yesterday. Funny, but when a caller brought this fact to Bob's attention, last week, Bob ripped him to shreds!!! You can say ANYTHING you want on "Topic 'A,'" just make sure your name is Phil, Herb or Jack!!! Chris? Chris is his OWN worst enemy! Exactly WHY does a guy that lives in Phoenix, Arizona (Mountain Time Zone?) call a small radio station (a dozen, or so listeners, at best) in Ocean County, New Jersey??!! Yeah, I know he USED to live, here, but WTF??!!
Stop me if you've heard this one before.
Sighted. A highway billboard in a rural state with "tea bagging," Red State tendencies (don't you just LOVE labels?). On it, a smiling photograph of George W. Bush, along with the caption, "Miss me yet?"
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's roughly two and-a-half years until Election Day. Or, as we "tea bagging," Red State, Conservative, Republican voters like to call it: "When Sarah (Palin) comes marching home, again, HURRAH, HURRAH..."
I understand that Census workers make eighteen dollars, an hour. Funny, I sat in a roomful of 'em, last week, and NONE of 'em counted me!! How come I'm not THAT invisible when I go to the grocery store, gasoline filling station or pharmacy??!! WHO is DOING the counting, Barack Obama?
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOW does a "tea bagging," Red State, Conservative, Republican citizen describe the Census count?
Right, an Obama-Nation!!
A Census worker (making eighteen dollars, an hour) is hired to be fired. You see, after the first week of training, the worker is terminated. Then, he or she is re-hired, and the information is reported to the White House as a new hire. A NEW job! Boy, talk about fudging numbers!!! Too bad this Census fiasco can't continue into 2012 (or CAN it??!!), or else Obama can report ZERO unemployment!!
Bill- Would just calling the show be too awkward? I'm sure he'd give you time to talk, but just won't respond.
I've been outta the loop the past couple weeks BUT, you mark this down, if and when I hear Bob say TEA BAGGER again, i will confront him on the matter. I highly doubt he's trying to be "cute" by saying it like the aging hippie brigade does when they say it on his show, i figured he was just naive and didn't know it was a slang term. If it was brought to his attention and he STILL uses it, then I have an issue.
Speaking of slang terms, you think if I asked Bob if Phil from Brick plays a rusty trombone he'd know what I meant?? lol.
No need for a contest Paul. The less offensive name for the Tea Party is "TEA PARTY" not "TEA BAGGER"!!
Keep your coffee, I prefer tea!!
I agree with Carol,
no need for a contest.
The Tea Party people is good enough.
The only way to improve Bob Levy's Topic A program would be to remove Bob and his tea bagger references once and for all.
Its the Tea Partiers that gave themselves the name "Teabaggers".
As a matter of fact, the term was used as far back as April 2009 by much larger medias: (http://crooksandliars.com/jon-perr/tea-baggers-strange_brew). Maybe they have your apology?
Paul you say that the Tea Partiers gave themselves the name, yet you can't prove your point.
No where in your link provided does it prove it. A search on the internet doesn't provide us with proff either.
If a falsehood is repeated again and again it doesn't make it a fact.
