Crashing the Tea Party
Excerpt:
"Our analysis casts doubt on the Tea Party’s “origin story.” Early on, Tea Partiers were often described as nonpartisan political neophytes. Actually, the Tea Party’s supporters today were highly partisan Republicans long before the Tea Party was born, and were more likely than others to have contacted government officials. In fact, past Republican affiliation is the single strongest predictor of Tea Party support today.

What’s more, contrary to some accounts, the Tea Party is not a creature of the Great Recession. Many Americans have suffered in the last four years, but they are no more likely than anyone else to support the Tea Party. And while the public image of the Tea Party focuses on a desire to shrink government, concern over big government is hardly the only or even the most important predictor of Tea Party support among voters.

So what do Tea Partiers have in common? They are overwhelmingly white, but even compared to other white Republicans, they had a low regard for immigrants and blacks long before Barack Obama was president, and they still do.

More important, they were disproportionately social conservatives in 2006 — opposing abortion, for example — and still are today. Next to being a Republican, the strongest predictor of being a Tea Party supporter today was a desire, back in 2006, to see religion play a prominent role in politics. And Tea Partiers continue to hold these views: they seek “deeply religious” elected officials, approve of religious leaders’ engaging in politics and want religion brought into political debates. The Tea Party’s generals may say their overriding concern is a smaller government, but not their rank and file, who are more concerned about putting God in government."

If you voted for Obama in 2008 to prove you're not a racist, you will have to vote for someone else in 2012 to prove you're not an idiot.

Hey, to ANYONE who cares, I had breakfast at the Cozy Kitchen Cafe (Silverton, NJ), Sunday, and I HAD to listen-to (endure?) "Topic 'A,'" there. I guess THAT'S where I'll be on September 11, 2011 (The Tenth Anniversary of 9/11). Bob had better be on his game, too!!

Hey Bill,
Can't you get over your Bob fetish? Every week it's the same thing with you. Get help Bill.

NEWS HEADLINE IN NEW YORK DAILY NEWS:

"Moammar Khadafy's Compound in Tripoli Under Attack From Rebels; Leader's Whereabouts Unknown."

Relax, I just spotted him. He's pumping gas at the WaWa store at the intersection of Route 37 East, and Hooper Avenue. You know, the former site of the Victory Diner? Yes, yes, Anonymous, I'll seek "help," tomorrow!! I promise!!

THE HEADLINE IN TODAY'S NEW YORK DAILY NEWS:

"New Libyan Government Will Be Able To Cash-In on Moammar ("Daffy") Khadafy's Demise."

THAT'S why I saw "Daffy" clocking-out from his new job as gas station attendant at WaWa, and heading to Social Services to sign-up for food stamps!!

Can someone explain to me what Mike in L.H. actually said in regards to Jack in P.P.’s sexual orientation? Regardless, its pretty hysterical to hear a 60 year old man whining about his manhood being challenged.

Joe, as YOU have explained to me, before; there's not a whole lot of traffic on this blog. You, me, Mike, Chris, from the Desert, Anonymous (whoever THAT is!). That's about it. I mean, IF we were to hold a convention, we could hold it in a very small telephone booth, and STILL have room left over!

Hey, I'm here at Ocean County College, and about a half-hour ago we experienced an earthquake! We were asked to evacuate from all the buildings. Here, in the library (top floor!), it was downright SCARY!! I'm 62 years of age, and I just felt my very first earthquake. On The Web (Internet), they're saying the epicenter was located in Richmond, Virginia, and it measured 5.8 on the Richter Scale. It was felt as far north as Toronto, Canada. By Sunday morning, Phil, from Brick, will find some way to blame it all on George W. Bush!

Well Well Well, How bout that. The Marxist from, where is he from now, let me see. O damn who knows I doubt even he knows which commie bi-ch belly he was whelped from. He sure has no grasp of what it means to be an American and what our founding fathers fought and died for in order to create the greatest and freest country on earth. Why just this week he committed another impeachable offence by granting amnesty to almost five million illegals and give out work permits to 300,000 immediatly. So much for unemployed Americans. He doesn't like Americans anyway. Oh, but wait, when he comes back from hob nobbing with millionaires and billionaires on Matha's Vinyahd he is going to come up with a plan to save or create more jobs. The last time the a-hole did this it cost the American taxpayer, according to the CBO, $287,000 for every job created or saved. Hmmmmmm almost all those jobs were federal jobs. Average salary $77,000 yrly and adding in the benefit package, retirement and health care with COL increases every year, we on SSI don't get them, add another $62,000 a year. And guess who they vote for. It sucks it just plain sucks. They should all be hung and start all over again with term limits no gov't paid pensions they pay their own and make them buy their own healthcare just like we have to. And no more emperial presidency

Joe in TR, mike in LH could not understand an article in the APP about PRESIDENT OBAMA'S approval rating in NJ. He called Bob and asked him for help. Bob could not help. I guess he was trying to "FIND THE HUMOR" . mike in LH continued with some "FAUX NEWS" sean insanity talking points. Jack in PPB called and dressed down mike. mike got upset and called Jack in PPB a queen. Jack replied that he would dance with mike anytime. mike said he would, as long as he could lead. Tune in Sun and find out their dance of choice. I'm betting on the tango. Looks like the J.O. in PHX is on suicide watch. Must be that pool water he's drinking. Watch out for those dust storms!!!!!!! I really like the language of the PREACHER. Spoken like a "true christian".

Desert Fox (Chris, from the Desert)? We (The East Coast)got hit with a 5.8 Richter Scale earthquake, on Tuesday, guess WHERE B-ROKE Hussein Obama was? Right, up in Martha's Vineyard, getting ready to tee-off on the golf course. Earlier this month, when the government was running-out of money to pay the bills, WHERE was he? Right, again: On the golf course! When Standard and Poor's dropped us from a pristine AAA credit rating, to a AA+ (third-world country status!), O'Bummer was right on the golf course! You know, Chris, we're starting to see WHAT a Jimmy Carter second-term WOULD'VE looked like, if Reagan hadn't come along to throw him under the Electoral College bus!!

Yesterday, when I was having lunch at Applebee's, at the Ocean County Mall, the manager, "Tom," said to me, "Bill, you look like you're getting thinner and thinner. What's up with that?" I replied, "it's the latest thing in poverty, it's called 'Obama Care!'"

Bill, from Toms River said...

Bob, Phil, from Brick; Herb, from Toms River; Jack, from Jackson and John, from Lavallette? In 2008, you guys, "The Gang of Five," were the "Change" advocates. So, HOW do you like "Change," so far? Are we having fun, yet??!!

Bill, from Toms River said...

A REMINDER!

On Sunday, August 28th, at ten o'clock pm., The National Geographic Channel (consult your TV listings) will air "George W. Bush: The 9/11 Interview." I promise you, neither Bob nor Phil nor Herb nor Jack nor John ("The Gang of Five")will remind you of this television program. That's because The National Geographic Channel is "fair and balanced." You remember the George W. Bush years, right? You had a job. You had disposable cash in your wallet. You had a house. So, watch, then! Be nostalgic! In 2012, Obama will be gone!!

QUESTION: What IS a recession?

ANSWER: A recession is when your next-door neighbor is out-of-work.

What is a depression?

A depression is when YOU are out-of-work!

What the Christie crowd did, in other words, was to ask thousands of people to come to a concert and then close the road BEFORE they could get home.

A friend of mine passed the concert site driving home from work shortly before 8 p.m. The concert was still going on, he told me.

My friend promptly got caught in the 8 p.m. closure of the Parkway declared by Christie for the purpose of keeping bennies from going to the Shore. Since my friend is not a bennie, but an actual Shore resident who works for a living, he was stuck in traffic for an hour trying to get.

http://blog.nj.com/njv_paul_mulshine/2011/08/close_the_parkway_but_keep_the.html

The point is, why was the Parkway closed a day before the storm due to hit? And if it was so dangerous to close it a day early, why leave the people out on the small local roads? Leaving massive traffic jams with others trying to get home from work and in more danger on the roads?

Google "Close the Parkway but keep the Arts Center open?", as the blog seems to like to delete words for some reason.
