Palm Sunday
.
.
.
Please welcome two new faces who will keep WOBM News live, local and late-breaking each weekend. Tony DeLuccio and Matt Fazelpoor.
.
.
From the NEWS desk of Tom Mongelli:
Plenty happening on the news front, as Governor Christie's budget proposals turn into a tug-of-war in the state legislature and a duel in the sun with the NJEA. Municipal budgets that run on fiscal years are being adjusted for worst-case scenarios, and education budgets are being hastily re-crafted for introduction before the April 20 school board elections.
Toms River's school budget gets a public airing tonight (3/28) at High School South. The district sets the pace for the rest of them countywide. Officials plann on getting almost 10-million dollars less from Trenton. Stacy Proebstle is there, and reporting the results. The Brick Township school budget meeting is March 30th.
In the event of a Republican Congressional primary in the shore's District 3, WOBM will conduct a candidates' debate May 11th. Two of the three hopefuls - Joe Rullo and Justin Murphy - are busy gathering grassroots support and have already agreed to take part. The big gun - former Philadelphia Eagle Jon Runyan - goes strictly on the advice of his campaign manager, who is still hedging. We will proceed with or without him.
Ocean County gets federal emergency funding for damage from December snowstorms, but not for the ones in February. Trying to get a straight answer from NJOEM about how this works is like nailing Jell-O to the wall, but we're nagging them about it anyway. Mostly because parts of LBI are starting to vanish under water.
The Shore group takes part in Ocean County's job fair, March 31st at Ocean County College; then takes the gear up to Monmouth University's April 14th job fair. Visitors from the stations welcome!
WOBM supports the US Census 2010 as a Be-Counted site. Anyone needing a blank copy of the 10-question form can find one right in the lobby, through April 19th.
Hey Monty Python fans - Neil Innes (leader of the minstrels in "Holy Grail," composer of nearly all the music, creator of The Rutles and founder of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band) performs a free concert April 11th at the Ocean County Library in Toms River. All together now: Spam-spam-spam-spam-spam-spam-spam-spam...
Guests for the April 7th Open Forum, WOBM-AM: New Jersey Assemblyman Joe Malone on the state budget battle, and former Toms River pathologist Dr. Charles Harris on the new federal health care plan.

Where's the bill that George spoke about?

I know Bob doesn't put this blog up since he can't use a computer; but apart from having you not post Bob's pledge to kill himself if Palin were to be elected President ...

...Does Bob also now keep you from posting information of bills that have passed both the State assembly and the Senate and are awaiting the Governor's signature?

Why have a radio program and blog if Bob is going to call listeners crazy, and then keep important information out of his blog for us to look up?

Thanks Bob! Why not call your show Topic C?

Topic C for censure, or crazy.

Why keep important messages on ways to keeping our taxes down off your radio station and blog.

Bob you have too much hate in you, it seems to me you are out to "Get George" at our expense.

Why not call your show Topic C?

Topic C for "C"ensure, or "C"razy, or "C"ommie.

It looks like the Commies have taken over WOBM now.

No, Bob, I didn't leave the "Where's the bill that George spoke about" comment?

I was rather amused to hear my name mentioned on your show, today, by a caller. Boy, YOU didn't seem very pleased!

When are YOU going to drop this "poor me, woe is me" attitude whenever my name is brought up?

I think by kicking ME around on your show like you do (what is it, now, five, six, seven years?), it helps your show. It SURE makes the phones light up, THAT'S for SURE!

You oughta' thank me!!

(732) 237-9626 is STILL your number, right? Maybe I'll give YOU a call, next week. We'll talk about the old times!

BEHOLD! THE SECOND COMING!!

Hovering over I-35, near Wyoming, Minnesota, stands a billboard with an ominous, how'd-anyone-take-him-seriously picture of Former President George W. Bush, with a caption that reads, "Miss Me, Yet?"

Sorry I couldn't make that Bush Billboard into a link for 'ya. I'm ALMOST as computer illiterate as Bob Levy!!!

WHY IS BOB LEVY SO AFRAID OF SARAH PALIN?

A. He's a Democrat.

B. He's a Misogynist. ***

C. If he liked her, he'd look like a wuss in the eyes of Phil, from Brick, Jack, from Point Pleasant Beach and Herb, from Toms River.

D. All of the above.

*** Misogynist, a noun. Definition: An extreme dislike of females, frequently based upon unhappy experience or upbringing.

ANSWER: D, All of the above.

FAIR AND BALANCED REPORTING:

"Phil," from Brick, bashed President George W. Bush for almost
five years. He campaigned for Barack Obama, on Topic 'A,' for the entire presidential campaign season (2008) and since President Obama's election, he's "spun" for him, EVERY WEEK. TURN AROUND IS FAIR PLAY!

Bill- grow a set and call Bob instead of just venting on a blog that is read by 5 people at most.

Joe, from Toms River,

If you're the young kid, Joe, that I hear every so often on Bob's show, you're TOO YOUNG to remember when I was a regular caller on Bob's show, too. Consider ME to be the Fallen Angel of Bob's show.
I was TOLD never to call Bob's show, again. I kept my promise.
Until, last week, that is. A caller called and asked about me, by name. I feel obliged to acknowledge his call. Joe, if you're the Joe I think you are, I enjoy your calls. You remind me of me!

JoeFromTomsRiver said...

Yes, Bill that is me. I don't consider myself a "young kid" as I'm 33, but I guess when compared with the rest of the Topic A regulars, a kid I am.

And I DO vaguely remember you as a regular caller, however, I was out of the loop for 4 or 5 years and missed the whole "falling out" scenario. I know it had to do with a "Bagdhad Bob" comment but didn't know you were actually banned from calling.

Anyway, my only point is that if you are "allowed" to call, then just call and say exactly what you're saying on this board. It'll give the show a much needed shot in the arm. I'm tired of being the only caller who who injects something "different" or some off-color commentary.

Paul said...

Bill, I have to agree with Joe.
Call the show...talk about what you want to talk about...get it off your chest...you will feel alot better. You can even use an alias.
I have only been Bobs producer for the past 3 years...and I remember hearing that show(Bagdhad Bob) sooooo many years ago.
What do you have to lose?
Hope to hear from you on Sunday.
